Join us in the Richmond Building with Lizzie Bowes, a third year AHRC-funded PhD student at the University of Bristol, working across the Departments of Music, English, and affiliated with the University’s Centre for Black Humanities. She studies conscious rap and the political overtones of long-form rap albums, and the ways UK rap artists create narratives about themselves, their cultures, and their communities.
She'll be talking about her progression from undergrad to postgrad, why she decided to pursue research, deciding her field, funding, and what it's like to be a PhD student. So, even if you want to pursue research in the sciences, mathematics or anything that isn't music studies, come along as we'll be learning about all the ins and outs of research life!
