Welcome to the Academic Research Society (ResSoc)!

ResSoc is the University of Bristol’s society dedicated to making research accessible, engaging and collaborative. Whether you're looking to develop essential research skills, explore interdisciplinary projects, or connect with like-minded students, we provide the platform to learn, apply and grow in the world of research.

What We Do

  • Learn and Develop - Workshops on research skills, writing techniques, academic integrity, and postgraduate applications.

  • Engage and Compete – Mini-hackathons, mock journal submissions, and research challenges to apply your knowledge in a practical way.

  • Connect and Collaborate – Work across disciplines, team up with external organisations, and engage with academics through speaker sessions and networking events.

  • Research Team – As we grow, we plan to launch a dedicated research team that members can apply to join for structured research projects.

Membership Benefits

ResSoc members get free or discounted entry to all ResSoc events, as well as earlybird ticket sales. Most importantly, membership is only £3 for the half-year (we will increase to £6 for the next academic year), so don't hesitate in joining up! You can join by clicking the 'Join This Group' button on the top/bottom of this webpage.

Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.
