At Bristol we have over 800 student representatives who are here to represent your academic interests and make sure you’re getting the most from your education. Academic Reps are the elected students who represent their cohorts on academic issues to the University and help make positive change to improve the student experience.

Faculty Reps
Faculty Reps represent the issues and priorities of students in their faculty to staff at both faculty and university level. They do this by gathering feedback from Course Reps and other students, chairing Faculty Student Staff Liaison Committee meetings, joining Bristol SU’s Student Representatives' Assembly alongside SU democratic events and some Faculty Reps also represent students at University committees like Senate.

What I'm working on:
- Expanding the Representation Café initiative across all HLS courses to create a consistent and accessible platform for students to share feedback, ensuring their concerns are actively heard, addressed, and translated into meaningful change
- Improving assessment scheduling and the timely communication of key academic information to help students plan their terms effectively, with particular consideration for the needs of international students
- Creating interdisciplinary networking opportunities across HLS courses to encourage collaboration, facilitate diverse career pathways, and broaden students’ undergraduate experience beyond their individual disciplines

What I'm working on:
- Learning about all the changes the merge of Faculties (Science and Engineering) has made in student life
- Working with the SU marketing team for outreach of our roles
- Attending SARFs and FARFs to gather feedback and establishing a positive relationship with Course Reps
- Attending Senate, Student Council, Education Committee and Student Representative Assembly to track overall university progress
- Creating easier communication channels between Faculty, School and Course reps for more efficient information exchange
- Beginning to work on advertisement for the Ideas Board in collaboration with the Chair of Student Council

What I'm working on:
- Improving communication and accessibility of information: Supporting the development of a faculty-wide WhatsApp group or communication channel to share important academic updates, including lecture cancellations and timetable changes.
- Increasing access to career opportunities: Encouraging students to share internship, part-time job, and other professional development opportunities to help PGT students gain relevant experience alongside their studies.
- Building accessible academic resources: Exploring the creation of a shared GitHub repository for past exam papers, revision notes, and other learning resources, particularly for newer courses with fewer established resources

What I'm working on:
- Collecting and collating student feedback across HLS programmes, and chair the Faculty Academic Rep Forum (FARF) to relay student concerns to faculty staff
- Utilising graphic design and social media skills to create accessible communications, lowering barriers for international and ethnic minority students to share their experiences
- Establishing inclusive feedback channels for both taught students and PGRs, ensuring underrepresented perspectives inform practical improvements across the faculty

What I'm working on:
- Supporting wellbeing and mental health by providing greater recognition and support for the specific mental health challenges PGR life involves
- Increasing fairer access to teaching opportunities - possibilities of accessing teaching opportunities in other departments/schools
- Fostering and improving a PGR community and research culture - aiming to tackle isolation by creating more spaces for connection and collaboration across schools and disciplines

- Championing consistent supervision and a healthy, supportive research culture across the faculty
