Did you chat to our Student Community Organisers at the Welcome Fair?

On Saturday 27 September, we welcomed over 15,000 students to our biggest event of the year – the Welcome Fair!

From student group stalls to food vendors and live performances, it was a brilliant day packed with energy.

Among the crowd, you might’ve spotted our Student Community Organisers (SCOs) roaming with their A-board. They were there to listen, asking what matters most to you at university and how they can support you to make change. As part of our student voice structure, SCOs are here to amplify your voice and help shape your experience at Bristol.

Lottie, one of our SCOs, shared her reflections from the day:

“The Welcome Fair was buzzing! I arrived early to set up a society stall, so I had a good feel for the space before the crowds came in. It was great to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new students.

One of the best parts was hearing directly from students about what they want from us this year. The top concerns were cost of living, transport, and mental and physical health and what stood out was how widely these issues are felt, no matter your course or year. That’s really helped us focus on what matters to everyone.

A personal highlight? The Give it a Go! Arena – especially the Chinese Lion Dance Troupe. They were incredible!”
