A Guide to Uni Life from Your Student Community Organisers

Wednesday 17-09-2025 - 11:10

This year, we're welcoming six new Student Community Organisers into our Student Voice structures and they’re here to help you make change while at university! 💥

These Organisers are leaders of change, working across the University to connect student communities and champion the issues that matter most to you.

To help you get to know them (and Bristol!), we asked a few to share their top picks for places to visit when you arrive. From cosy cafés and buzzing bars to green spaces and creative hubs, this guide is packed with student-approved spots to help you settle in and explore the city.

Meet your Student Community Organisers!

Wendy recommends Victoria Park
"In my opinion, the best park in Bristol is Victoria Park. It’s near Bedminster and has fantastic scenery! It's a lovely space to relax in – so green and peaceful. You might even meet some friendly dogs playing with sticks! It’s the perfect place to clear your head after a study session."

Aimee recommends Barrelhouse
"Tucked next to the Richmond Building, Barrelhouse is a cosy pub with unique cocktails, candlelit booths, and a hidden rooftop beer garden. It’s ideal for post-lecture catch-ups – and yes, they do a student discount!"

Shreya recommends Club 395
"Club 395 is a vibrant creative hub led by the Bristol Creative Co. It celebrates multicultural talent and gives you space to share your own ideas. Whether you're into art, music, tech or something else entirely, you’ll find events to attend, opportunities to host your own, and a welcoming creative community."

Lottie recommends The Canteen
"Located at the top of Stokes Croft, The Canteen is a laid-back venue with affordable drinks and live music most nights. It’s a great place to unwind, meet new people, and soak up Bristol’s creative energy."

Sian recommends Crystals Jewellery Store
"My recommendation for new students has to be Crystals in The Galleries – the staff are so lovely, and the jewellery is beautiful and budget-friendly!"

Sandali recommends The Berkeley
"One of the best ways to meet new people is over food, and The Berkeley on Queens Road is perfect for that! It’s super student-friendly – even if you don’t drink, it’s a great place to grab a lemonade and chat with your flatmates. They even do cheap breakfasts!"
