Description

Welcome to UoB Poker Society!

We run a weekly £5 entry tournament as well as cash games, every Monday from 19:00, at the Green House, an amazing pub located near College Green. With sessions every Monday, you're guaranteed to meet like-minded people, improve your poker skills and have fun!

We also run tournaments with friends (and rivals!)

Things to Know:

Green House Mondays: We play a tournament followed by cash games of varying size every Monday in the Green House, located at the bottom of College Green, near the City Centre. It’s a great place to come and play if you are new to the game or want to improve your skills in a friendly (and cheap) atmosphere!

Tournament: Tournament is Texas-Hold'em, with a  £5 buy in (cash only!), starting at 7pm. Buy-ins conitnue until around 8:30 (or the chip limit is reached). The final 9-12 players, i.e. those who make it to the final table, win the money pooled that evening from the buy-ins.

Cash Games: Starting later than the tournament, cash games run in a variety of forms, typically traditional Texas Hold'em, although alternative formats may be run on special events. Typical buy-ins range from £5-20.

Membership: Membership is £5 for the year, which grants you entry to all our weekly sessions and any additional events we run throughout the year. This fee allows us to to maintain our tables, cards, chips and run socials so it is well spent.

Help and Online Safety:

We have players from a range of abilities so don't feel shy or intimidated, even if you're completely new to poker! We love this game and want to give you the chance to enjoy it too. Feeling lost, don't know the terminology or understand why you should have folded? Just ask!

Poker games such as Texas Holdem are as popular as ever, not just with casinos and poker clubs, but also with university poker societies like ours. We are aware that it is inevitable that online gambling will also grow simultaneously, alongside this growth in popularity. With this in mind, players' safety remains our top priority when choosing to take your matches online. Ensure you understand which sites are trusted and that you're playing securely through well reviewed sites which you can find at http://www.pokersites.com/uk/ to avoid any online hazards. In this society we strive to uphold this timeless card game and we hope to see you in there!
