A post shared by UoB Pantomime Society (@pantosoc) on

who are we?

We are Pantosoc, one of Bristol SU's oldest societies. 30 odd years ago, a pantomime horse was donated to the uni... and the rest was history!

We pride ourselves on our senses of humour, fun variety of socials, laugh out loud shows, and being super welcoming to everybody. Everyone has the opportunity to contribute original scripts, direct/produce shows, choreograph dances, and put together costumes/props/set if they like, on top of acting!

And, most importantly: EVERYBODY who auditions gets a part!

What's Panto?

Pantomime is a British tradition! A comedic form of musical theatre, heavy on the innuendo, audience participation and self aware jokes. Student panto is typically 14+, with adult themes and explicit humour ;)

Every show has at least one Dame! This is a drag act who often interacts with the audience and adds some sauciness to the occassion ;)

We also include panto-fied twists on songs you know and love (eg PLUnder the Sea in our pirate panto, and R-E-V-E-N-G-E as a villain song!)

Panto Carol by PantoSoc Bristol @ Pegg Theatre ★★★★★

By Milan Perera: The highly-anticipated PantoSoc production of Panto Carol, leading up to the Holiday season had to be postponed indefinitely due to the outbreak of Omicron. But fear not! Panto Carol is back from the ashes, as resplendent as a phoenix.

Snow White: The Panto @ The Winston Theatre ★★★★

By Tom Taylor, Digital Editor Panto Soc's Snow White: The Panto was a delight to watch and had the audience laughing and cheering right from the very beginning.

What do we do?

We put on five main shows a year: Christmas, Easter, SASI (Showcase), our 24hr show, and a show we take to the Edinurgh Fringe Festival in August. Keep an eye out for our socials including themed nights out, scavenger hunts, and karaoke! We also team up with other Performing Arts societies for more shenanigans, like workshops and socials. Don't think you have to be in a show to come to the socials! Everything's open to everybody, just turn up and you'll make friends without trying!

Membership costs under £10 and allows you to take part in shows, attend our socials and vote in our proposals & general meetings. We also offer a free membership, which allows you to come along to our socials and vote in our democratic events! To get your membership, click the Join This Group button.
