Description

Our Society

Chinese Theatre & Film Society (CTFS) is a performing arts and screen production related society with the vision of creating more opportunities for theatre and film enthusiasts, to whom using Chinese as the main form of creative medium. As a bilingual society, we welcome and promote the participation of students whose first language is not Chinese in all aspects of artistic creation. This diversity of audiences and participants would then enable us to explore the possibilities of cross-cultural theatre/films in the context of the globalised world. We are also responsible to assist the  members to develop relevant creative skills of theatre and film, nurturing independent, critical, and passionate theatre and film makers in today’s versatile art context.

Our productions

Since our inception, we have produced two theatrical productions:

Another Cinderalla's Story (2022)

This is a hilarious and thought-provoking comedy. We unravel the absuidity of the societal expectations of beauty as we deconstruct the well known fairytal, questioning the ridiculousness of judging one's value based on a pair of shoes.

Year After Year (2023) 无冬之海

A surrealist play with elements of physical theatre, this is the story of a young man trapped in an obsession, seeking self-redemption at the hazy border between reality and illusion.

Samsara (2024) 轮回

Every generation has its own memories. How we are free from the rules of society and the confinement of our ancestors to the mind.
