Elections: Our New Network Roles
You recently voted in some changes for your networks, with findings from our ongoing Representation Review leading to the Liberating the Structure motion – which passed at this year’s AMM.
This means that, for the academic year 24/25, there will be 11 elected network chairs, six of which are Liberation Networks.
Nominations for Elections are now open – so you can run to be a Network Chair, responsible for representing students who share that identity, background or experience.
Networks at Bristol SU bring students together to discuss and connect around experiences and issues they care about. Through their chair, they influence the SU and university and can organise events to build community and meet like-minded people.
So, what are the new groupings of Networks, and what roles can you run for?
Liberation Networks
As the Chair of the Network, you will represent students within the Student Union, the University and at NUS Liberation conference. You may also support relevant Full-Time Officer campaigns, host socials to build community and/or work with the Liberation and Campaigns team to make change through collective action.
- Black Students Network
Run to be the Chair of the Black Students’ Network. You will work as a representative of Black students at the University and work with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of Black students. See the full role description here.
- BAME Students’ Network
Run to be the Chair of the BAME Students’ Network. You will work as a representative of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students at the University. As the Chair, you will also work with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of BAME students. See the full role description here.
- LGBTQ+ Students’ Network
Run to be the Chair of the LGBTQ+ Students’ Network. You will work as a representative of LGBTQ+ students at the University, and work with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of LGBTQ+ students. See the full role description here.
- Women's Students’ Network
Run to be the Chair of the Women’s Students’ Network. You will work as a representative of Women’s students at the University. As the chair, you will also work with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of Women’s students. See the full role description here.
- Disabled Students’ Network
Run to be the Chair of the Disabled Students’ Network. You will work as a representative of Disabled Students at the University, as well as working with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of the Disabled. See the full role description here.
- Trans Students' Network
Run to be the Chair of the Trans Students’ Network. You will work as a representative of Trans students at the University. As Chair, you will also work with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of Trans students. See the full role description here.
Identity-Based Networks
As the Chair of the Network, you will represent students within Student Union and University spaces. You may also support relevant Full-Time Officer campaigns, host socials to build community and/or work with the Liberation and Campaigns team to make change through collective action.
- Care Leavers and Estranged Students Network
Run to be the Chair of the Care Leavers and Estranged Students’ Network, and work as a representative of CLE students at the University. As Chair, you will also work with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of CLE students. See the full role description here.

- Multifaith Students’ Network
Run to be the Chair of the Multifaith Students’ Network. You will work as a representative of students of faith at the University. You will also work with student volunteer members of the network to further the interests of students of faith. See the full role description here.
Volunteering and Fundraising Network
As the Chair of the Network, you will develop and support the SU’s approach to student volunteering and fundraising, including Student Volunteering Week, food drives and fundraising. See the full role description here.
