Description

Welcome to the Bristol University Tennis Club

The University of Bristol Tennis Club (UBTC) is the largest active sports club at the University, with a diverse offering that suits players of all abilities. All of our sessions are led by LTA qualified coaches, ensuring a high standard of coaching across our program, allowing you to grow as a player with us.

For those that have never played before we also offer a 5 week long learn to tennis course several times throughout the year which is perfect if your looking to get started with tennis for the very first time!

We are a large, friendly society filled with students whose time at Uni has been greatly enhanced by being involved in our club, playing tennis, and creating lifelong friendships. We hope you’ll be one of them by the end of your time here at the university!

UBTC is powered by a student committee working in close partnership with staff from Sport Exercise and Health and the Students Union. We are always open to suggestions from members so if there is something you would like to see in the society, please let us know.

Our website has loads of useful information to help you get started at UBTC. Not sure which group you should join? There are breakdowns of all the groups so you can find the place that best suits you. Want to view our timetable so you know when our sessions are running? There is a full breakdown of our offering on the website. Want to get to know some of the commitee members? There is a meet the committee section on the website. Want to hire courts yourselves? We explain how to as well. Click the link below to go straight to our website.

Performance - BUCS Tennis

The student performance squad includes our best student players who compete in the British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues for the university. Our squads comprise of 16 men and 16 women. The squads train 3-4 times a week on court with 2x a week S and C. The players have the opportunity for a smaller group session on a Thursday or Friday and all sessions are coached by LTA accredited Level 4 or 3 coaches provided by the university's Sport Exercise and Health division (SEH).

Competition 23/24

We had an incredible 23/24 season and are looking to continue to push forward this year!

Our Men's 1s were promoted into the Southern Premiership.

Our Womens's 1s narrowly missed out on promotion at playoffs this year after winning Western division 1, but will push on for promotion this year!

Our Men's 2s were promoted into Western tier 1, after winning Western tier 2.

Our Women's 2s took home the cup in a battle against the Women's 3s in the final as well as taking the league and getting promoted into Western tier 2!

Our Women's 3s finished second in Western tier 2 and only missed out on promotion as the 2s were going up already.

Scholarships - Turbo Maroon

The club works in partnership with SEH to provide the Turbo Maroon Athlete Scholarship to specific players. We currently have 7 Turbo Maroon players. They receive enhanced support from SEH including increased court time, S and C, access to multidisciplinary professionals such as a physiotherapist, sport psychologist and nutritionist and free restrings. In addition the club funds the Turbo Maroon membership costs.
