This term, we had a record-breaking election with a huge 9,212 students casting their votes. This is not only our highest-ever number of students voting but also one of the highest voter turnouts in the country, with an amazing 29.3% voter turnout. We also elected our new Student Community Organisers who will be with us from next year, you can find out more about their role in this article.
We are excited to welcome our new officers to the team. Sharan Khemlani (Yashika) takes on the role of Postgraduate Education Officer and Jessie Yeung is your new International Students Officer!
And we’re thrilled to have Lucy, Linlu, Mia, Ella and Katie returning for another year 💪 Also, a huge congratulations to al those students who are taking on imporant roles to represent thier course and faculty!

To celebrate, we welcomed back over 90 former sabbatical officers, took a trip down memory lane with archive materials, and showed off our new home in Senate House. From sit-ins and protests to legendary events and everyday wins, it’s been a century of student power, activism, and community.
Mia, your Undergraduate Education Officer, has been working hard to improve assessment feedback across the University. After hearing from students, she’s pushed for clearer, more consistent feedback and better communication from staff.

It was annoucned this term that the University of Bristol has officially ended the use of the Forced Swim Test in research.
This decision follows sustained pressure from students, including a petition from Veg Soc; who proposed a motion for the SU to take action after our AMM.
Bakhtawar, your International Students Officer, took international student concerns straight to Westminster.
She spoke at a Parliamentary roundtable about the challenges international students face, including housing, visa issues, and the cost of living. Find out more about her visit and the report that inspired her visit. Congratulations Bakh!
This term, Ella, your Sport and Student Development Officer, launched the Injury Support Group to help students who are injured stay connected and supported
The group offers a space to share experiences, access resources, and make sure no one feels left out while recovering. You can book these sessions now on the UoB Active App 📲.
Derby Day 2025 was a huge success, with hundreds of students taking part in a day of sport across the city.
From netball to rugby, students competed across 20+ fixtures, cheered on by crowds and celebrated with live music and food stalls. Relive the day and see the results from this amazing day! 🏅🏑
Bristol SU launched the We’re Here campaign, a city-wide initiative supporting survivors of sexual violence.
In partnership with SARSAS, SafeLink, The Bridge, and both Bristol universities, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the free, professional support available to students.
The message is simple: you will be believed and supported, whether or not you choose to report ✨

S.H.A.G Week (Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance) was launched with a packed programme of events, including:
The week was all about empowering students to take control of their sexual health in a fun, inclusive way.
We revealed the Bristol SU 50 Most Influential Students, a celebration of some of the students making an impact on campus and beyond.
From campaigners and community leaders to creatives and changemakers, these students are shaping the future of Bristol University.
