We need students like you to nominate yourself to be a rep!
Every year, Bristol students elect a new group of student leaders to run Bristol SU, and represent students on campus. You could be one of them!
What have SU reps ever done for me?
It's a fair question, and the answer is more than you might expect!
If you've ever used Lecture Replay, taken part in a sports club or society or used the Bristol Drugs Project drop-ins then your experience as a student has been directly shaped by the hard work of reps and full-time officers. Find out more about the impact our elected reps have had here.
What roles are available?
We'll be electing a range of different roles, whether you're passionate about student democracy, want to represent students on your course or improve things in your halls. Find out more about each of the roles here.
Network Committee Roles - Networks are the grassroots of representation and campaigning at Bristol SU, bringing students together to work on different issues, like Wellbeing and Sport, or representing different types of students, like LGBT+ or international students.
PGT Faculty Rep - Faculty Reps work with other academic reps, university staff and Bristol SU staff to improve the student academic experience. They do this by representing the issues and priorities of PGT students in their faculty to staff at both faculty and university level, and working with the PGT Course Reps in their faculty. Faculty Reps are also members the committee that leads Bristol SU’s Education Network, and full voting members of Standing Committee and Student Council, ensuring that students in their Faculty have a voice in key SU decisions.
Course Reps - Course Reps are elected by students to represent them on academic issues. There is usually at least one rep for each year of every course at the University. As a course rep you’ll be a direct link between your coursemates, academic staff and Bristol SU. You’ll help tackle issues like problems with units or assessments on your course, and you’ll be part of the conversation of how to improve education across the University.
Democratic Standards Committee - The Democratic Standards Committee is made up of elected students who support the Chair of Student Council with Bristol SU's democratic forums. They also make sure that Bristol SU's structures and democracy are accessible, fair and productive for all students.
NUS Delegates - As a member of the National Union of Students, Bristol SU gets to send up to 10 Delegates to NUS UK National Conference. This is a chance to help make change and contribute to the student voice on a national level. Delegates will attend to National Conference including travel and accommodation, and as a chance to be able to meet with students from across the country. You can help set the agenda and work on issues which matter to up to 7 million students!
Chair of the BAME Network - The Chair is the head of the BAME Network. The Chair works with the Network Committee and student volunteers to run events, campaign and develop policy to further the interests of BAME students at the University. They are also a key voice for BAME students to the SU and University. (Note: Candidates for this role must self-define as black or minority ethnic).
Chair of the Black Students' Network - The Chair is the head of the Black Students’ Network. The Chair works with the Network Committee and student volunteers to run events, campaign and develop policy to further the interests of Black students at the University. They are also a key voice for Black students to the SU and University. (Note: Candidates for this role must self-define as black).
