FAQs

What can I watch?
Over at the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex, there’s so much sport on offer! In the Indoor Sports Centre, you can watch tennis matches, netball, futsal, volleyball and more. Outside, on the 3G, Astro, and grass pitches you can watch anything from football to rugby, ultimate Frisbee to lacrosse. Every Wednesday you’ll be able to watch BUCS games. British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) is a competitive league that Bristol takes part in with other universities all over the country. Come along and support!
How can I get to Coombe Dingle?
Your Sports and Student Development Officer, Pat, has secured the Coombe Dingle Shuttle Bus for you this academic year. The bus is a simple way to get to the sports complex on a Wednesday, and guess what? It's completely free for players and spectators!
The shuttle bus leaves on the hour, every hour, on Wednesday from Tyndall Avenue from 10:00-19:00. There's an extra bus at 21:30 should you need it.
On the 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00 busses, you'll have the option of stopping at Clifton Downs on Perry's Lane. You can also stop here on your return from Coombe Dingle on the 15:30 and 16:30 busses.
You'll be able to return from Coombe Dingle on the half hour every hour, from 13:30-19:30. There's also an extra bus at 21:00 and 22:00 should you need it!
Where can I watch?
There’s plenty of space to watch your favourite game or match. In the Indoor Sports Center, you’ll find a viewing gallery – so you can watch any sport up high from the balcony. If you take the first left after the reception in the Sports Centre, you’ll be directed to the gallery. If you can’t find it, make sure to ask one of the friendly receptionists! Outside, you’ll be able to stand on the side of (any of) the grass pitches, Astro and 3G.
Is there food/ drink available?
Coombe Dingle has its very own bar (called The Pavillion)! Here, you’ll be able to grab an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink and a snack. Meals are on offer at The Pavillion during special events, but this food is usually there on request by specific sports clubs. So, make sure to bring some food with you if you’re over at Coombe for the day! In the reception area of the Indoor Sports centre, there’s a vending machine and coffee machine so you can keep fuelled.
Are there study or workspaces?
You can connect to eduroam at Coombe Dingle, and there are tables and chairs in the reception area of the Sports Centre. So, if you need to work in between games/matches then you’ll be able to. The Pavilion bar also opens at 12, and there’s space in there to work should you need it!
What is a spotlight fixture?
This year, we’re teaming up with SEH to create spotlight fixtures – where we’ll highlight one sports game each week. This fixture will vary, giving us the opportunity to showcase a different sport on social media and share all the hard work that they do. Make sure to follow us, and University of Bristol Sport, on Instagram to keep up to date with all things sport! You can see all of the Spotlight fixtures on our What’s On page.
